Friday night was the naming celebration for the new Blind Association building - an incredible association that does amazing good for the blind and visually impaired. My paintings are throughout the building - a donation in honor of my mother.
We came up with the idea to do large braille paintings that could actually be felt - such as "triumph”, "accomplishment” and "independence” plus the ad campaign wording donated by Maslow,Lumia and Bartolillo which read "see it,” "feel it,” "believe it.”
Ironically my sisters and I all wore white - and the picture Curtis Salonick took captured the back of one of my silk paintings with the the wings perfectly fitted behind my dads head. AND, there was a harp playing at the event. Plus a halo….. see it?
Interesting to do animals after studying the human form for so many years - here are Egyptian Arabians - one in pencil, ink and watercolor - commission work is great because it gets you doing things you wouldn't ordinarily do -
Last night was a treat - meeting for the first time Charlie Singer and hearing him play and sing - It was raining - but good food, candles, live music, friends…. what could be better?
Here is a 54" x 54" painting using iron oxides from the Susquehanna river - my client saw a small square image (one of 37) and asked if I could enlarge it. She loves trees …. this reminds me of the promise of spring - the hope of getting through the winter - of knowing - that everything will once again - bloom.
So, it was a two for one - celebrating Alex's (oops) 17th birthday and Mother's Day celebration for Ramah - mother of four….
What a great day and evening!! Shelley (sister of Jan) helped me hang the show - we were there from 9-3 - it was great fun - Chris (Jan's husband) ironed and cleaned while Jan and John (ze chefs) churned out some amazing foodies (which of course we were more then willing to try) - all the while jammin to squizz or was it squid…. on xm.Back at 4:45 - so great to see so many friends and family - flowers from Betsy and Russ - Wow, I am so lucky….. thank you to all!!!!!!!!!
